2012 Lamborghini Gallardo

The close looks between the Gallardo Superleggera and the Spyder foxes even the spy photographers from distinguishing between the two. When the photos taken at the Nurburgring testing site by the spy photographer were looked at closely the features generally pointed towards the Spyder. The main reasons for this conclusion were from the indicators and the slight aerodynamic differences between the two.
The coupe version of the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera has a large rear wing which is missing in case of the Spyder as seen in the spy photographs taken as also the smaller front spoiler is the other feature of differentiation. Given these two features there would be a reduction in down force thus leading to the conclusion that the Spyder would be a lesser performer at high speeds when compared to its open top configuration.
Another feature to differentiate and recognize between the two is the larger than standard front spoiler and large rear diffuser of the Spyder. The photographer also mentioned about the Spyder making very high speeds. This could be due to the V10 engine which is a 5.2 liter capacity one and develops 570 hp. This is the same engine that is found in the coupe. The pickup should be 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 second much like the coupe, but the top speed would be lower than 202 mph of the coupe due to the aerodynamic and fabric top design of the Spyder.
By weight the Spyder should be somewhere around the 3000 pound mark and not lesser. The Superleggera is known to be of 2.954 pounds.
Expectations are that the car would be available at the Paris Motor show this fall but there are chances that if market condition does not improve the unveiling may wait a year after the coupe is unveiled at Geneva.
